Abstract

Tok vode u tlima se odvija pod utjecajem klimatskih parametara, karakteristika tla te
ostalih faktora kao što su nagib terena, biljni pokrov, sustavi odvodnje itd. Hidrauličke
karakteristike tla su rezultat mehaničkog sastava tla, strukture tla i ostalih fizikalnokemijskih
karakteristika (npr. sadržaj humusa). Modeli toka vode u tlu pri varijabilno
saturiranim uvjetima se mogu pouzdano koristiti za procjenu toka vode u tlu. Cilj rada
je uz pomoć terenskih i laboratorijskih istraživanja i numeričkog modeliranja
procijeniti tok vode u tlima s različitim hidrauličkim karakteristikama. U svrhu
određivanja hidrauličkih karakteristika tla, neporušeni uzorci od 250 cm3 su
prikupljeni s pet različitih lokacija na području grada Zagreba. Na navedenim
uzorcima su određene retencijske i hidrauličke krivulje tla na temelju kojih su
dobivene vrijednosti hidrauličkih parametara (npr. količina vode u tlu, hidraulička
provodljivost tla). Provedena mjerenja hidrauličkih parametara tla pokazala su visoku
podudarnost procijenjenih retencijskih i hidrauličkih krivulja temeljenih na van
Genuchten-Mualemovom modelu (R2 i RMSE vrijednosti) što ukazuje na pouzdanost
primijenjenih metoda (RMSE < 0.01 cm3/cm3 i RMSE < 0,6 cm/d). Iako se na svim
lokacijama radilo o istom tipu tla (Rendzina) uočene se velike razlike u hidrauličkim
karakteristikama što ukazuje na veliku heterogenost istraživanih tala. Numeričko
modeliranje toka vode na lokacijama istraživanja je ukazalo na važnost procjene svih
hidrauličkih parametara jer uz hidrauličku vodljivost nesaturiranog tla i ostali (npr.
retencija vode) parametri utječu na ponašanje i tok vode u nesaturiranoj zoni tla.

Abstract (english)

Water flow in soils is under the influence of climatic parameters, soil characteristics,
and other factors such as terrain slope, plant cover, drainage systems, etc. Soil
hydraulic parameters are the result of soil texture composition, soil structure, and
other physicochemical properties (e.g., organic matter content). Water flow models in
variably saturated conditions can be reliably used to estimate the water flow in the
soil. The thesis aims to assess the water flow in soils with different hydraulic
characteristics using laboratory methods and numerical modeling. To determine the
hydraulic characteristics of the soil, undisturbed samples of 250 cm3 were collected
from five different locations in the city of Zagreb. The samples were used to
determine retention and hydraulic conductivity curves of the soil based on which the
values of hydraulic parameters will be obtained (e.g., the amount of water in the soil,
hydraulic conductivity). The objectives of this thesis were to determine the hydraulic
characteristics of the soil in individual locations and to perform numerical modeling of
the water flow based on experimentally determined soil hydraulic parameters. The
performed measurements of hydraulic soil parameters showed high relevance of the
estimated retention and hydraulic curves based on the van Genuchten-Mualem
model (R2 and RMSE values), which indicates the reliability of the applied methods
(RMSE <0.01 cm3/cm3 and RMSE <0.6 cm/d). Although it was the same type of soil
(Rendzina), large differences in hydraulic parameters were observed, which indicates
a considerable heterogeneity of the studied soils. Numerical modeling of water flow at
experimental sites indicated the importance of estimating all hydraulic parameters. In
addition to the hydraulic conductivity of unsaturated soil, other parameters (e.g.,
water retention) also affect the behavior and water flow in unsaturated soil.
