Abstract

Propolis ili pčelinje ljepilo predstavlja smolaste i balzamske tvari koje obavijaju pupove različitih biljnih vrsta, skupljaju ga pčele radilice i koriste kao pomoćno sredstvo u zaštiti košnice i pčelinje zajednice. U ovom je radu prikazan cjelovit i iscrpan pregled znanstvenih istraživanja kojima su dokazana ljekovita svojstva različitih tipova propolisa (topola tip, mediteranski tip, zeleni i crveni propolis te drugi) s nagalskom na bioaktivne sastavnice odgovorne za dokazane učinke, kao što su protubakterijska, protuvirusna, protugljivična i protuoksidacijska djelotvornost. Uz navedene učinke spominju se najčešće primjenjivane formulacije propolisa kao što su alkoholni ekstrakt/tinktura, vodeni ekstrakt te sirovi propolis. Njegova raznolika ljekovita svojstva od davnina intrigiraju čovječanstvo, a razvojem farmaceutske industrije, medicine i drugih znanstvenih područja upotreba propolisa sve je šira i raznovrsnija, stoga je potrebno naglasiti dosadašnju primjenu u terapijske svrhe u humanoj i veterinarskoj medicini.

Abstract (english)

Propolis or bee glue is a resinous and balsamic substance that envelops the buds of various plant species, it is collected by bee workers and used as an aid tool in the protection of hives and bee colonies. This paper presents complete and comprehensive review of scientific research that has proven the medicinal properties of different types of propolis (poplar type, Mediterranean type, green and red propolis and others) with emphasis on components responsible for proven effects such as antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal and antioxidative effectiveness. In addition to the mentioned effects, the most commonly used formulations of propolis are alcoholic extract/tincture, aqueous extract and raw propolis. Its various healing properties have intrigued mankind since ancient times, and with the development of the pharmaceutical industry, medicine and other scientific fields, the use of propolis is becoming wider and more diverse, therefore it is necessary to emphasize its use for therapeutic purposes in human and veterinary medicine.
