Abstract

Nekontrolirano kretanje materijala niz padinu ozbiljan je problem koji često uzrokuje okolišnu i ekonomsku štetu. Globalno, petina površine kopna klasificirana je kao podložna kretanju materijala na padinama. Promjene u vegetaciji, a koje uključuju i promjene uslijed poljoprivredne proizvodnje često su uzročnik kretanja materijala niz padine. S druge strane vegetacija je značajan faktor koji utječe na stabilizaciju padina. To čini na nekoliko načina: upijanjem vode smanjuje zasićenje padinskog materijala; krošnjama ublažava razorno djelovanje kišnih kapi te korijenjem stabilizira padinu. Korištenje vegetacije za poboljšanje stabilnosti padina isplativa je i održiva alternativa antropogenim strukturama.

Abstract (english)

The uncontrolled movement of sediment down the slope is a serious problem that often results in environmental degradation and economic loss. Globally, a fifth of the land surface is classified as subject to slope-material movement. Changes in vegetation, including changes caused by agricultural production, often triggers slope processes. On the other hand, vegetation is a significant factor influencing the stabilization of slopes. This is done in several ways: by absorbing water, it reduces saturation of the slope material; the canopy reduces the destructive effect of raindrops and stabilizes the slope with its roots. The use of vegetation to improve the stability of slopes is a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to anthropogenic structures.
