Abstract

Marakuja pripada rodu Passiflora koji sadrži oko 600 vrsta biljaka, uglavnom višegodišnjih drvenastih penjačica porijeklom iz tropskih područja Sjeverne i Južne Amerike. Plod marakuje prikladan je za komercijalnu proizvodnju. Raste duž dalmatinske obale i na otocima, najčešće kao ukrasno bilje u kućnim vrtovima, ili kao naturalizirane divlje biljke uz rubove cesta ili pustopoljina. Marakuja žutog ploda čiji je botanički naziv Passiflora edulis f. flavicarpa nastala je od poznatije ljubičaste marakuje ili P.edulis. Iako se ljubičasta marakuja najviše uzgaja u drugim zemljama raste potražnja za žutom marakujom zbog visoke nutritivne i ljekovite vrijednosti na svježem tržištu i u industriji. Cilj rada je analizirati proizvodnju marakuje te opisati potrebne agrotehničke mjere i tehnologiju uzgoja. Najveći potrošač marakuje je Europa međutim ova biljka je još uvijek nepoznata za uzgoj u Europi. Hrvatska zbog svojeg geografskog položaja i povoljnih klimatskih uvijeta ima potencijala za uzgoj marakuje, a zahvaljujući blizini potrošača EU te cestovnoj i zračnoj povezanosti plasman plodova bi bio moguć u vrlo kratkom roku nakon berbe.

Abstract (english)

The passion fruit belongs to the genus Passiflora, which comprises about 600 plant species. They are mostly woody perennial climbers native to the tropical regions of North and South America. The passion fruit is suitable for commercial cultivation. It grows along the Dalmatian coast and on the islands, mostly as an ornamental plant in home gardens or as a naturalised wild plant at the edge of roads or wastelands. The yellow-fruited passion fruit, whose botanical name is Passiflora edulis f. flavicarpa, has evolved from the more familiar purple passion fruit or P.edulis. Although the purple passion fruit is mainly grown in other countries, the demand for the yellow passion fruit is increasing due to its high nutritional and medicinal value in the fresh market and industry. The aim of the paper is to analyse passion fruit production and describe the necessary agrotechnical measures and cultivation techniques.The largest consumer of passion fruit is Europe, but this plant is still unknown for cultivation in Europe. Due to its geographical location and favourable climatic conditions, Croatia has the potential for passion fruit cultivation. Thanks to the proximity to EU consumers and road and air connections, the placement of the fruit would be possible in a very short time after harvest.
