Abstract

Platina (Pt), paladij (Pd) i rodij (Rh) su elementi platinske skupine (PGE - platinum group elements) važni zbog svoje sposobnosti katalize reakcija oksidacije i redukcije ispušnih plinova koji nastaju u motorima s unutarnjim izgaranjem. Vrući ispušni plinovi troše stjenke automobilskih pretvornika zbog čega dolazi do emisije PGE u okoliš gdje mogu predstavljati potencijalni rizik za zdravlje ljudi. Cilj ovoga rada je bilo određivanje koncentracija PGE u lebdećim česticama tijekom 2020. godine odnosno u tlu i vegetaciji u proljeće i jesen tijekom 2020. godine. Koncentracije su određene na tri lokacije na području grada Zagreba. Ispitana je sezonska i prostorna raspodjela koncentracija PGE u zraku, tlu i vegetaciji. Prosječni uzorci tla uzorkovani su na dvije dubine (0-5 i 5-10 cm), te je uzorkovana nadzemna vegetacija (Plantago lanceolata L. i Dactylis glomerata L.) u neposrednoj okolici postojećih mjernih postaja za mjerenje kvalitete zraka. Uz navedeno, uzorkovane su i lebdeće čestice aerodinamičkog promjera manjeg od 10 μm (frakcija PM10 – tjedni uzorak tijekom cijele godine). Rezultati su pokazali da postoji dubinska i sezonska raspodjela koncentracija PGE, te da Plantago lanceolata L. ima indikatorska svojstva, posebice za Pd. U uzorcima tla, biljaka i lebdećih čestica je utvrđen koncentracijski niz: Pd > Rh > Pt.

Abstract (english)

Platinum (Pt), palladium (Pd) and rhodium (Rh) are elements of the platinum group (PGE) important due to their ability to catalyse oxidation and reduction reactions of exhaust gases produced in combustion engines. Hot exhaust gases wear down the walls of autoconverters leading to the emission of PGE into the environment, where they can pose a potential threat to human health. The aim of this work was to determine the concentrations of PGE in particulate matter during the year 2020 and in the soil and vegetation in spring and autumn during the year 2020. The concentrations were determined at three sites in the city of Zagreb. Seasonal and spatial distribution of PGE concentrations in air, soil and vegetation were examined. Average soil samples were sampled at two depths (0-5 and 5-10 cm), and aboveground vegetation (Plantago lanceolata L. and Dactylis glomerata L.) was sampled in the close proximity to existing air quality monitoring stations. In addition, particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter less than 10 μm was also sampled (PM10 fraction – weekly sampling throughout the year). The results showed that there is a depth and seasonal distribution of PGE concentrations and that Plantago lanceolata L. has indicator properties, especially for Pd. In the samples of soil, plants and PM samples, a sequence of PGE concentrations was observed: Pd > Rh > Pt.
