Abstract

Mikroorganizmi imaju veliki značaj u biotehnologiji, a jedne od značajnijih bakterija su Gram-pozitivne, štapićaste, sporogene vrste iz roda Bacillus spp. Upravo zbog vrlo otpornih endospora mogu preživjeti bez hranjiva, na nepovoljnim uvjetima sredine te se mogu oduprijeti različitim fizikalnim i kemijskim sredstvima. Zbog svoje široke rasprostranjenosti i velike prilagodljivosti, potencijal ovih bakterija je u različitim biotehnološkim procesima od proizvodnje antibiotika, enzima, aminokiselina pa do proizvodnje bioloških preparata u zaštiti bilja. Na temelju znanstvenih istraživanja, u ovom su radu prikazane neke od biotehnološki značajnijih vrsta iz roda Bacillus. Također, opisani su antimikrobni spojevi koje spomenute bakterije proizvode kao i njihova primjena u poljoprivredi, zaštiti bilja, različitim industrijskim procesima i proizvodnji.

Abstract (english)

Microorganisms are of great importance in biotechnology, and one of the most significant bacteria are Gram-positive, rod-shaped, sporogenic species which belong to the genus Bacillus spp. Due to their highly resistant endospores, they can survive without nutrients in adverse enviromental conditions, and can withstand various physical and chemical agents. Because of widespread distribution and high adaptability, the potential of these bacteria has found great application in various biotechnological processes from production of antibiotics, enzymes, amino acids to the production of biological products in plant protection. Based on scientific research, this paper present some of the biotechnologically significant Bacillus bacteria. Also, there are described antimicrobial compounds that bacteria produce, as well as their use in agriculture, plant protection, various industrial processes and production.
