Abstract

Sorta masline Piculja se uzgaja najviše na otoku Lastovu, gdje u ukupnom broju stabala sudjeluje s više od 90%. Još je nalazimo na Mljetu i Elafitima. Ime joj potječe od korijena riječi pica što u narodnom izričaju znači koštica masline, budući je njezin plod sitan s čvrstom kožicom i tankim slojem mesa. S obzirom na količinu ulja u njezinom plodu, ubraja se u visoko uljevitu sortu. Prilagođena je klimatskim i agroekološkim uvjetima otoka Lastova, pratiteljica je otočana kroz stoljeća. Zbog svojih genetskih osobina, visoka stabla gotovo je nemoguće prilagoditi zahtjevima suvremenog maslinarstva. Polazeći od posebno vrijednih svojstava njezinog ulja, intenzivne pikantnosti i gorčine, što je preduvjet za ljekovitost. Stoga sorta Piculja predstavlja nezaobilazni gospodarski čimbenik u unapređenju maslinarstva otoka. U ovom su radu istraživane morfološke karakteristike lista, ploda i koštice sorte Piculje u maslinicima otoka Lastova prema međunarodnom pravilniku za morfološku karakterizaciju sorata maslina (IOOC – Madrid). Rezultati morfološkog istraživanja osobina lista, ploda i koštice pokazuju da postoji značajno unutar sortno odstupanje između dva istraživana stabla lokalno nazvana Lastovska Picuja kao i u odnosu na standardnu sortu Piculju.

Abstract (english)

“Piculja” is mostly grown on the island of Lastovo where it s found in over 90% of the total trees on the island. It is also found on Mljet and Elafiti. The name originates from size and characteristics of the fruit. The common folk name for the pit in this area is “pica”. The fruit is small with firm skin and a thin layer of flesh. The amoount of oil found in the fruit makes it a highly oily variety. It adapts to climatic and soil conditions of the island of Lastovo, and it has been on the island for centuries. The genetic characteristics found in the tall trees are not able to suit the demands of modern olive tree growing. Because of very important characteristics of its oil, with its spicy and bitter taste, “Piculja” presents an important economic factor in promotion of olive tree growth business of the island. The research of morphological characteristics of the leaf, fruit and the pit in this thesis is carried out in accordance with the international rule book for morphological characterization of varieties of olive trees (IOOC-Madrid). The results of morphological research of characteristics of the leaf, fruit and pit show that there is a significant variety deviation between the two researched trees, locally named “Lastovska piculja”, as well as the standard variety of “Piculja”.
