Abstract

Mačka divlja (Felis silvestris) u Hrvatskoj je znanstveno vrlo malo istražena vrsta iako nastanjuje područje gotovo cijele Hrvatske. Kako je poznavanje biologije i ekologije vrste osnova za učinkovitu zaštitu, cilj rada bio je provesti prva radio-telemetrijska istraživanja ove vrste u Hrvatskoj. Obuhvaćeno područje istraživanja je Bjelovarsko-bilogorska županija u razdoblju od 2012-2015 g. Hvatanje je provedeno kaveznim zamkama, a uhvaćene mačke su imobilizirane, obilježene VHF ogrlicama i puštene na mjestu hvatanja. Kretanje obilježenih jedinki pratilo se periodički na tjednoj razini, a prikupljeni podatci obrađeni u ArcGIS programu. Veličina područja obitavanja ženke Bela bila je 283 ha, a mužjaka Felixa 950 ha. Analizom staništa moguće je zaključiti da su obje obilježene jedinke većinom preferirale mozaike kultiviranih površina i intenzivno obrađivane oranice na komasiranim površinama što znači da takva staništa zadovoljavaju sve životne potrebe divlje mačke na tom području. Rezultati ovog istraživanja doprinose učinkovitijoj zaštiti te strogo zaštićene životinje, odnosno zaštiti staništa koja su nužna za njezin opstanak.

Abstract (english)

The wildcat (Felis silvestris) inhabits almost all of Croatia but there is a considerable lack of published information regarding this species in Croatia. Since knowledge of biology and ecology is the basis for effective protection, the aim of the study was to conduct the first radio-telemetric research of this species in Croatia. The area covered by the survey is the Bjelovar-Bilogora County in the period from 2012 to 2015. The capture was carried out with cage traps and the captured cats were immobilized, marked with VHF collars and released at the capture site. The movement of collared animals was monitored periodically on a weekly basis, and the collected data were processed in the ArcGIS program. The size of the area of the female Bela was 283 ha, and the males Felix 950 ha. By analyzing habitats it is possible to conclude that both marked individuals mostly preferred mosaics of cultivated areas and heavily cultivated arable lands, meaning that such habitats meet all the needs of wild cats in that area. The results of this research contribute to more effective protection of this strictly protected animal, i.e. to the protection of habitats that are necessary for its survival.
