Abstract

Pistacia terebinthus L. (smrdljika) razgranati je listopadni grm ili stablo koje je prirodno
rasprostranjeno na području Mediterana. Bogata je taninima i smolom, antispazmolitičkog,
ekspektorantnog i antiseptičkog djelovanja. Problem koji se javlja kod smrdljike je dormantnost
sjemena, što otežava generativno razmnožavanje. Različita istraživanja su pokazala da je
uklanjanje dormantnosti i pospješivanje klijavosti sjemena moguće postići različitim
predsjetvenim tretmanima sjemena. U ovom radu istražena je učinkovitost različitih
predsjetvenih tretmana (hladna stratifikacija, kombinacija kemijske skarifikacije s H2SO4 i
GA3, kemijska skarifikacija s H2SO4 uz močenje sjemena u vodi, kemijska skarifikacija s HCl)
na prekidanje dormantnosti, pospješivanje klijavosti i povećanje energije klijanja sjemena
smrdljike. Unatoč provedenim tretmanima utvrđena je izrazito niska klijavost sjemena, što
može biti uzrokovano fiziološkim, biotskim i abiotskim čimbenicima.

Abstract (english)

Pistacia terebinthus L. (terebinth) is a branched, deciduous shrub or tree naturally distributed in the Mediterranean region. It contains many tannins and resins and has antispasmodic, expectorant and antiseptic properties. The problem that occurs with terebinth is the dormancy of the seeds, which makes generative reproduction difficult. Various studies have shown that the removal of dormancy and promoting seed germination can be achieved with different pre-sowing seed treatments. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of pre-sowing seed treatments (cold stratification, combination of chemical scarification with H2SO4 and GA3, chemical scarification with H2SO4 and soaking the seeds in water, chemical scarification with HCl) in breaking seed dormancy and improving germination. Germination proved to be extremely low, which may be caused by physiological, biotic and abiotic factors.
